Original hand painted cotton, 60x90cm, signed.
Imported from Indonesia, the center of traditional batik art. Parts of the fabric are covered with wax and than painted. Parts covered with vax remain their original color, the rest of the fabric is painted. The word itself comes from the Javanese word “tik,” meaning “dot” since a lot of outlining is done by placing small dots of vax which then form a line. Some parts of the fabric are covered vith vax, painted and then creased which creates unique patterns that can’t be created otherwise.
Can be stretched on a wooden frame, and framed with glass which makes maintenance easier.
Send folded. (After ironing the creases disappear.)
